Show Notes

On the inaugural episode of On Psych, Dr. Jonathan Douglas sits down with Maaike Canrinus to discuss the COVID-19 pandemic and the effects this Global Health Crisis might be having on children as they too navigate uncertainty.

Maaike is a school and clinical psychologist, and director of Riverwise Psychological Services. Maaike is committed to helping children, adolescents, and families when they are feeling stuck. She believes that providing effective service means helping families better understand their child so that they can feel empowered to move forward and if necessary, make positive changes in their lives. Maaike sees children and adolescents for psychological assessments and psychotherapy, and works with parents to support their children.

Maaike completed her M.A. in Clinical Psychology, Applied Developmental Emphasis, at the University of Guelph. She has completed additional training in psychological assessment, cognitive behavioural therapy, and emotion-focused family therapy. Maaike has worked in school board, clinic, and private practice settings. She lives in Barrie with her family and loves to be outdoors or doing creative activities in her spare time.
